Fatha Engle was born on June 29, 1888, in Indiana. He died on February 28, 1953 on the beach in Miami, Florida. Fatha (pronounced fuh-tah') was initiated by Pir-O-Murshid Inayat Khan in San Francisco in 1923, and was later National Representative in America for The Sufi Movement. He established Sufi Centers in New York City (1924-1942), and Cleveland, Ohio (1942-1953). This amazing, beautiful man was David's grandfather on his mother's side.
Enjoy the conscious, loving words that follow from Pir-O-Murshid Inayat Khan's writings and excerpts from Fatha's enlightened book Only You Can Change The World. As you read, breathe lovely long breaths and hold David close as this is his blood, his lineage.
"The secret of seeking
the will of God
lies in cultivating the
faculty of sensing harmony;
for harmony is beauty
and beauty is harmony,
and the lover of beauty
in further progress
becomes the seeker of harmony;
and by trying always
to maintain harmony,
one's heart will be tuned
to the will of God."
Aphorisms, #1521
Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan
... we have a desire to find out the truth of life. We have
a desire to satisfy the longing and hunger of the soul. This
longing and hunger of the soul is only answered fully in the
recognition of and response to the Will of God. This is the
great undertaking we have in life, to learn to know the Will
of God. This is the object of all religion. No matter what
the religion may be called, or in what part of the world it
prevails, the object of any true religion is to enable
humanity to realize its true relationship to the Creator.
Through the realization of this true relationship, we come
to know the Will of God.

"By creating happiness,
one fulfills one's life's purpose."
Vadan, #1251
Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan
"Happiness is the true nature of one's innermost being. It is not
something one creates out of nothing. It is something which is
there all the time, but which one must discover. It is something
one must uncover, something one must release from within. It is not
something one can gather from outside of oneself and bring into
oneself. Happiness is an experience in consciousness, which must
be uncovered through a process of purification of one's mind and
heart."
