This update comes to us from David's little sister, Tana. She arrived in Mexico this past Saturday and is staying with David through the week.
From Tana:
Today we had a big day. We went to a Radiology clinic first thing where David had a CT-Scan on his neck and head. Followed by a visit to another clinic where David received an endoscopy, a scope to his stomach, to determine if he had any tumors in his esophagus or stomach. Finally we arrived at the San Diego Clinic where Dr. Munos talked to us about the results of both tests while David received his immune boost treatment.
The CT-Scan showed that David had some cancer cells affecting a bone in the back of his head, near his neck, called the Mastoid Process of the temporal lobe and that is causing the severe pain in his neck. The good news is that that Dr. Munos said that this type of cancer in David's bone is very treatable - a 90 to 95% success rate. David was started on this treatment today via IV. No tumors were found in his brain. It looks like the eye strain is from the neck pain, stress and lack of sleep.
During the endoscopy, samples were taken from David's stomach. Results will be provided to us later. The tumors in the liver are secondary which means they did not originate in the liver. They look like they are from the gastro-intestinal tract. David will start treatment for this kind of cancerous cell tomorrow. It is really good news that it is not primary liver cancer which is very aggressive and hard to treat. Dr. Munos is very optimistic about David's treatment.
Now it is the end of the day and I have helped David have a second treatment for the bone cancer. He has been a real trooper today and I can see he is wiped out, but glad to have a treatment plan under way.
David's heath fund has enough to get him through about 2 more weeks of treatment. He will need treatment for a total of at least 6 weeks. Thank you to all who have contributed so far. David will need additional donations and he's willing to borrow monies in order to complete his treatment here at the clinic.
David says "Thank you for all your support. I have tremendous strength, courage, and faith to get through this. I love everyone."
This is Tana again. It is very difficult for me to see my wonderful big brother going through the discomfort and pain that he is experiencing. My heart has swollen with compassion and love for him ten fold. I feel so fortunate that I am able to help him at this time. I also want to thank all of you for your prayers and help. Let us all surround David with a vision of healing light.
God bless you all.
With Love,
Tana
